Things grow rosy for Mount Eliza as the nbn™ network arrives in town

As the nbn™ network starts to roll into Mount Eliza, we shine the spotlight on the town best known for its coastal backdrop and famous rose gardens.

Towns and cities all across Australia are beginning to connect to the nbn™ network, so we’re celebrating the historic moments, landmarks or features that put each area on the map.

Only an hour outside of Melbourne, Mount Eliza is located between Frankston and the Mornington coasts in the Mornington Peninsula.

The popular seaside region was named after Elizabeth Callaghan, wife to Melbourne founder John Batman, in 1837.

The culturally rich town has a variety of things to do and see including visiting the Manyung Gallery, Ranelagh Beach, Earimili Gardens and Morning Star Estate.

The Morning Star Estate, one of the area’s most premier venues, is situated on the hills with vines and gardens that spread across 52 hectares.

Standing for over 140 years, the exquisite mansion offers breathtaking views of the Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne City.

The Morning Star Estate is home to one of the largest rose gardens in Victoria.

In fact, the gardens surrounding the main mansion host 700 different varieties of ornamental roses and a series of elaborate fountains. A serene location for locals to stop and smell the roses!

The region is also lined with a number of beaches. Ranelagh Beach, in particular, is a hidden treasure and a hit with locals.

The crisp blue water is always inviting, and during the winter months a sunset stroll along the coastline is a popular walking spot.

The Mount Eliza Farmers Markets, held one Sunday a month offer plenty of fresh and premium produce.

Certified organic produce such as cheese, eggs, fruit and vegetables are all for sale as well as authentic beers, wines, breads and meat. The markets are sure to give the trolley a workout!

With the arrival of the nbn™ network, Mount Eliza can add fast broadband to its picturesque setting and tight-knit community as reasons to visit.

In our next series, we travel to Malmsbury. Check out our On the Map homepage for more.
