What to look for in your long term (streaming) partner

Competition is increasing with more video-on-demand offers available – so what should you look for in your streaming service?

Remember when you had to wait months to watch a movie because you didn’t get to see it at the cinema? Or having to rush home so that you wouldn’t miss your favourite show?

Today, movie and TV lovers expect to watch what they want, when they want it. It’s all about on-demand!

The video-on-demand trend has kicked off in Australia and the internet infrastructure via the NBN means streaming has the potential to be a better experience than ever before.

Using services over the NBN, you will be able to rely on smart TVs, streaming devices and apps to catch that must-see television show whenever it's convenient to you.

But the internet connection is just one part of it. You also need to think about the streaming service you want to commit to.

You need to make sure the way it works is a good match for your home and your life.

  1. Here are some questions to ask yourself before taking that step:Are you a perfect match? Consider whether your system is compatible with other products you already have, including Android, iOS devices, Apple mobile, or a gaming console.
  2. What do you enjoy doing? Have a think about which apps are compatible with your device and whether your favourite regular programming is available on your streaming service. The catalogue of television programs and movies varies (between streaming services) so make sure you know what you're getting before signing on the dotted line!
  3. Do you have what it takes to make the distance? With average Australian broadband speeds of less than 7mbps*, the on-demand streaming experience for many of us is less than adequate as we experience drop-outs because of the restricted bandwidth. By accessing services over the NBN, you can choose from a range of fast speed tiers that mean you will be able to stream multiple pieces of content at once!

The deal-breaker

Do your research before choosing the right streaming partner for you and your household so you are able to live happily ever after with your entertainment choices.
