RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The recruitment process for the nbn® Graduate Program is designed to help you get to know us better and for us to get to know you. It ensures we effectively identify, match and understand your knowledge, skills and abilities.

Interested? Here’s what you can expect from our selection process:

Step one: Apply online

Apply online

If you’re interested in the program, you can apply online. Have your resume and academic transcript ready to upload. We’ll also ask you to respond to questions like why you want to work at nbn. Remember to apply for the stream or business unit that best matches your degree and interests.

Step 2: online assessment

Complete our online assessment

If you’re selected to progress to the next stage, we’ll ask you to complete three online assessments. These take about 45 minutes and can be completed at home or wherever you can log in online. The assessments help us get to know more about how you enjoy working, solving problems, planning and drawing logical conclusions. Plus, you’ll gain insights into your capabilities, strengths and key skills.

Step 3: Digital interview

Record a digital interview

A successful online assessment leads to a digital interview. You’ll be asked to showcase yourself on video by recording answers to our questions, including why you’re interested in joining nbn, and about your skills and experience.

Step four: Attend an assessment centre

Attend an nbn information centre

If successful with your digital interview, you’ll be invited to find out more about the nbn Graduate Program at one of our information sessions. This includes gaining valuable insights from previous graduates who have already been through the process and program.

Step 5: interviews

Join a virtual interview

You’ve made it this far – now you’ll be invited to take part in a virtual interview with nbn business leaders. It’s your opportunity to shine and talk about your experience, motivations and anything else that’s on your mind.

To help with your interview, learn the ‘STAR’ technique and check out our other tips.

Step 6: Background checks

Background checks and offer

After you’ve aced your interview, it’s time for background checks, which may include:

  • a 100-point identification check
  • eligibility to work confirmation
  • employment verification check
  • national criminal record check
  • reference checks

Once you’ve cleared the background checks, we’ll offer you a place in nbn’s Graduate Program. To make sure you’re all set to get started, our Graduate Program Manager will stay in touch with you until the program kicks off in February.

Keep in touch

To make sure you’re always aware of your application’s progress, please check your registered email address regularly and update your online profile if you move address. We will let you know if, at any stage, your application is unsuccessful. We also recommend keeping an eye on our nbn careers page for other opportunities of interest.
